If the equipment is paid off, or you can settle the finance, selling it can fund part of the replacement and keep your repayments lower.
Before you list
- Check any finance owing. If the asset is under a chattel mortgage or hire purchase, you will usually need to settle it with the lender to pass clear title.
- Gather the records. Service history, hours or kilometres, manuals and serial numbers all build buyer confidence.
- Clean it and photograph it. Good natural-light photos from several angles, plus the plate and hour meter.
- Be honest about condition. Mention known faults. It protects you and speeds up the sale.
Where to list
You can reach buyers across Australia by listing your used equipment on Anything Marketplace, which covers vehicles, machinery and more. Pricing near similar listings tends to help the sale.
Tax note. Selling a business asset can have tax consequences. Check the ATO guidance and speak to your accountant.
Then what?
With a sale price in mind, you can work out a deposit or trade-in value for the next purchase. Brush up on how equipment finance works and, when ready, start a finance enquiry.
